David Weaver (he/him)
Board Member, Art and Culture Center of Hollywood (FL)
David Weaver has over 30 years of experience in supporting the personal and professional development of children, youth, young adults, and adult professionals. He was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH and is a graduate of both Walnut Hills High School and the University of Cincinnati. He obtained a Bachelors’ in International Studies (Political Science focus) from the Monterey Institute of International Studies while serving honorably in the United States Army’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps stationed at Fort Ord, California.
His non-profit career is shaped by his roles as: Project Director for the Children’s Defense Fund’s Freedom Schools, founding Executive Director of Public Allies, and Vice President of Community Engagement & Programs with the National Conference for Community and Justice-- all in his hometown of Cincinnati. Working at the intersection of youth leadership development, community building, and DEI served as the catalyst for David co-founding Intersections, LLC- An Intergenerational Consultancy Group; and Youth at the Center, a non-profit youth leadership development organization intent on flipping the old adage on it’s head by ensuring that young people are indeed SEEN, HEARD and VALUED as the next generation of leaders in their communities.
Living now in Hollywood, Florida, David and his husband Andy are founding members of Hollywood’s LGBTQ+ Council, and David serves on the board of the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood. He takes pride in supporting the Center’s Open Dialogue Series, having starred in the
Emmy-winning second installment --Black Voice, Black Stories. He currently brings his wealth of knowledge and experiences to work at Teach For America as a Senior Managing Director with the Office of Equity & Belonging.
