Jeehea Sonya Haw, MD

Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipids, Emory University Department of Medicine

Dr. Sonya Haw joined the faculty at Emory in 2014 in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipids. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota in 2012. She then completed her fellowship in Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipids at Emory University in 2014.

Currently, Dr. Haw is based at Grady Memorial Hospital, providing clinical care of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She devotes part of her time to diabetes research, working closely with her mentor, Dr. Guillermo Umpierrez, on diabetes management. She also works on collaborative research projects with the Global Diabetes Research Center at Rollins School of Public Health in diabetes prevention. She has taken a leadership role in creating a new clinic specific for transgender care at Grady.
